Balance for Women Physicians, a national organization for female physicians of all specialties, has established the Sue Reynolds, MD Memorial Fund in honor of one of our Balance members. The money will fund scholarships for two fourth-year medical students to attend the annual Balance Conference for Women Physicians held in August. Since 1991 the Balance Conference has been improving the lives of women physicians and their patients through innovative and interactive educational activities.
Sue’s zeal for life, laughter and love manifested itself in her glowing smile, her “hoot ‘n holler” laugh and her empathic interaction with others. She relished her role as grandma in the nurturing of a new generation. Her husband Eb accompanied her to many of the Balance Conferences.
She practiced Family Medicine in the Tucson area and served as chair of the Tucson and Pima County Domestic Violence Commission. She supported the Balance Conference with her attendance, her work as a Conference planner and with financial backing. Sue died in a car accident in the fall of 2002. She was a beautiful person, inside and out. A tiny woman with a halo of baby-fine orange hair, Sue Ann Reynolds remains a huge presence in the memories of her friends.
